Red and black is the boldest varsity combination and remains a top seller for school dealers, award jacket programmes and Americana-inspired labels. It stands out across a sports hall and on a shop floor, which is why many distributors use it as a lead colourway.
The shell is cut from bright red 24 oz wool-blend melton. Sleeves are black full-grain cowhide or PU leather, set into a standard armhole for a classic letterman shape. Red and black multi-stripe rib knit trims every edge, black leather pocket welts frame the hand pockets and sturdy black snaps run the front. A black quilted lining keeps it warm for winter fixtures. Inside, a hanger loop, inside pocket and space for an embroidered name complete the classic letterman details.
A black chenille crest with ivory twill border sits on the chest in this design, but programmes usually add their own letters, numbers, sport insignia and graduation year.
