Private label boxing gloves: a buyer's guide
What to specify when you develop your own boxing gloves — materials, padding, weights, closures, branding and packaging.
In short
Private-label boxing gloves are specified by shell material (genuine cowhide, PU or microfibre), padding (multi-layer or injected foam), weight (usually 8–16 oz), closure (hook-and-loop or lace-up), thumb, palm and lining, then branded with your logo and packed in your retail box. Blackthorn World develops and manufactures them to order with a sample before every bulk order.

1. Choose the shell material
Genuine cowhide is the most durable and moulds to the hand over time. PU (synthetic leather) and microfibre cost less, come in gloss, matte, pearl and metallic finishes and hold printed graphics very well. Many brands run a leather pro line and a PU entry line from the same pattern.
2. Padding and construction
Training gloves use layers of foam of different densities, shaped over the knuckles, with an attached thumb and a pre-curved grip. Heavier weights add padding for sparring. Palms can be mesh or perforated for ventilation, and the lining can be a wicking fabric in any colour.
3. Weights and sizes
Common weights are 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 oz, with 12–16 oz used most for bag work and sparring. Junior gloves and bag mitts can be made from the same design. Give us the weights and quantity per weight when you ask for a quote.
4. Closure
Hook-and-loop (velcro) wrists are the standard for training — quick to put on alone. Lace-up gloves give a firmer wrist fit and are the norm for competition-style gloves. The same graphics can be applied to both.
5. Branding and packaging
- Logo on back hand, cuff, wrist strap and palm — printed, embossed, debossed, embroidered or as a badge
- Custom lining colour, piping, inside label and size tag
- Retail box, polybag, hang tag and carton marks with your branding and barcodes
6. Sampling and bulk
We make a sample in your materials, colours and branding. Bulk production starts only after you approve the sample, and every order is inspected before packing. Samples travel by DHL, UPS or FedEx; bulk ships by air or sea freight. See how to order.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between leather and PU boxing gloves?
Genuine leather is more durable and breathes better; PU (synthetic leather) is lighter on cost, easy to print and comes in many finishes. Both can be made with the same padding and pattern.
What weights should a private-label range include?
Most ranges cover 10, 12, 14 and 16 oz for adults, plus 8 oz or junior gloves. Bag mitts can complete the range.
Can I put my logo on the gloves?
Yes — printed, embossed, embroidered or as a rubber or PVC badge, plus your labels and packaging.
Do you make a sample first?
Yes. Every private-label glove is sampled in your materials and branding before bulk production.
Where are the gloves made?
In Blackthorn World's own factory a long-established centre for sports gloves and leather goods.
