In short

A hi-vis security utility vest is a high-visibility vest built to carry kit: radio and body-cam docks, D-rings, an ID window and flap pockets on a breathable 3D mesh body. Blackthorn World makes it OEM/ODM and private label for workwear importers, safety distributors and security companies, from 100 pieces per style at an indicative $9–$16 per piece FOB, with bulk shipping 3–4 weeks after sample approval.

Who buys a security utility vest?

A standard hi-vis vest is a visibility layer. A security vest is a working garment. The buyers who order it are workwear importers, safety and PPE distributors, uniform suppliers and security companies that equip door supervisors, event stewards, retail security, parking and civil enforcement teams. Their staff carry a radio, often a body-worn camera, a torch, a notebook and a phone for an entire shift, so the vest has to hold that weight without sagging and still be comfortable after ten hours.

Standards: EN ISO 20471 and ANSI/ISEA 107

Most buyers in the UK and EU work to EN ISO 20471, and buyers in the USA and Canada to ANSI/ISEA 107. The class depends on how much fluorescent background and reflective tape the garment has. Tell us the standard and class on your enquiry, and the tape layout and background areas are set up for that order before sampling. Our hi-vis standards guide explains the classes in plain terms.

Indicative price and minimum order

The hi-vis security utility vest is indicatively $9–$16 per piece FOB. The minimum is 100 pieces per style, with sizes S to 5XL mixed. The price moves with quantity, the number of docks and fittings, the tape specification and the back print. FOB excludes freight, import duty and VAT or sales tax. EU and UK importers may qualify for reduced duty under EU GSP+ or UK DCTS, as Blackthorn World is an EU REX registered exporter. Confirm the rate with your customs broker.

How a private-label order works

  1. Brief. Send the vest you buy now or your specification: colour, standard and class, pocket and dock layout, back print, size split and annual volume.
  2. Quote. We confirm the FOB price, fabric and fittings.
  3. Development sample. About 2 weeks. Development samples are charged per style plus courier, and the charge is credited against your first bulk order.
  4. Bulk. Production typically ships 3–4 weeks after sample approval, inspected against the approved sample.
  5. Packing. Your size labels, care labels, polybags and cartons.

Everything is made in our own ISO 9001:2015 certified factory. You can see how a garment moves through it on the factory tour. For other styles, browse hi-vis vests, hi-vis jackets and tops or all workwear.
