Navy and carolina blue is the safest two-tone in school sport: it sits inside almost every academy palette and needs no explaining to a committee.
Sublimation changes the economics of a varsity jacket. Because the artwork is printed into the polyester panel before the jacket is cut, a nine-colour gradient costs exactly what a single flat colour costs, and giving all forty players a different name and number costs nothing extra either. Screen print and embroidery both charge per colour and per placement; this does not.
The fabric is a 240 gsm brushed polyester interlock with a fleece-backed face — it holds colour density without going stiff, and the brushed back makes it wearable rather than clammy. Panels are printed, cut and then sewn, which is why the artwork runs cleanly through the seams instead of stopping at them.
Printing happens on our own floor: eight machines, six Mimaki and two Roland. Your artwork never leaves the factory for a subcontractor, which keeps colour consistent between the sample and the reorder you place eight months later. Where a design needs a raised element, we embroider a crest over the printed ground and you get both.

Cutting, embroidery, chenille and stitching all stay under one roof, so the colour standard you approve on your sample is the one repeated on your fifth reorder. No. Sublimation dyes the polyester fibre itself rather than sitting on top of it, so there is no layer to crack, peel or wash away. The print outlasts the garment, which is not true of screen print or transfers.
Yes, at no extra cost. Send us the roster as a spreadsheet and each jacket is printed individually. This is the single biggest reason teams choose sublimation over twill lettering.
Vector files are ideal — AI, EPS or PDF. We also work from a layered PSD at 300 dpi at full size. If all you have is a sketch or a photo, our in-house design team will redraw it; send whatever you have to sales@blackthorn-textile.com.
No — sublimation only bonds to polyester. For a wool or leather jacket we use chenille, tackle twill or embroidery instead, or print the lining and keep the shell traditional.
