Fluorescent yellow hi-vis tactical vest: the multi-pocket safety vest for security, traffic and site teams

A plain mesh vest makes a worker visible. A tactical hi-vis vest makes them visible and equipped: radio, phone, notebook, torch, ID and keys all have a place. This guide walks through the Blackthorn World fluorescent yellow tactical vest, who it is built for, which standards it meets and how wholesalers and brands customise it.

What makes a tactical hi-vis vest different from a basic safety vest

A basic hi-vis vest is a single layer of fluorescent fabric with two reflective bands and a hook-and-loop front. It is cheap and disposable. A hi-vis tactical vest (also called a hi-vis utility vest, security vest or multi-pocket safety vest) is a working platform: the same visibility, plus storage for the equipment the wearer carries all day. The Blackthorn version keeps the body in breathable mesh so it stays comfortable, and puts the weight-bearing parts — pockets, zip, straps and binding — in heavier materials.

Who orders a multi-pocket hi-vis vest

The same vest serves several buyers, which is why distributors keep it as a core line:

Standards: EN ISO 20471, ANSI/ISEA 107 and local equivalents

Visibility standards define the minimum area of fluorescent background and reflective material. A sleeveless vest usually reaches Class 2 in both the European and the American system. Certification is per design, carried out at an accredited laboratory, and we arrange it when the buyer specifies it.

Frequently asked questions

What is a hi-vis tactical vest?

A high-visibility safety vest with cargo pockets, radio clips, an ID window and adjustable straps, so security, traffic and site staff can carry their equipment while staying visible.

Is the fluorescent yellow tactical vest EN ISO 20471 or ANSI 107 compliant?

It can be built to EN ISO 20471 Class 2 or ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 2 (Type R or Type P) with certified tape and labelling; certification is arranged per design.

Why a mesh body instead of a solid fabric?

Mesh lets air through, so the vest can be worn over a shirt in hot weather or over a jacket in winter without overheating.

Can the pockets and radio clips be changed?

Yes. Pocket sizes, the radio clip position and the ID window are adapted to the radios and devices your clients use.

What is the minimum order quantity?

50 pieces per style, with sizes and colourways mixed; private labels and swing tags from 500 pieces.

Does the vest protect against knives or bullets?

No. It is a visibility garment. We can make hi-vis covers for the buyer's own certified body armour, but the vest itself offers no ballistic or stab protection.
